Patrick McNeely and Nick Turner, based out of Chattanooga, TN, explore the relationship of the natural world to technology; how humans interact with machines and how those machines interact with their humans, as Midist. This manifests in their process through hardware-based music making. They are two humans controlling a fleet of highly-opinionated machines that dictate the sounds they make as much as their operators. The result is generative and algorithmic, yet full of humanity and warmth. All through a democracy of the human-to-machine-to-human collaboration.
